Second term started on monday. Now it's thursday and i slept once. We had a workshop over three days with different international Designers. I had the honour to work with Michaela Aichele (she's german but workin in NY), who is a great illustrator, working for the NewYork Times, for example. I should add she does a lot of childbook illustrations too, that's why I did them in a similar style.
She gave us the topic "the end of the world". We had to figure out what we want to do, how we want to do it, how to organize it and how to produce it. And we only had 2 and a half day, including printing and folding.
We decided to go with a chart-alike design, with gridsquares and a caption with little pictograms.
We weren't allowed to do illustrations directly related to the end of the world (e.g. nuclear bombs meteors and gore) but rather were told to do somethin abstract and personal or something to think about.
I had a lot of ideas so i was allowed to do 6 illustrations out of 28 or so, which is great haha
Some of the illustrations are all digital, some are actually real drawings, colored on the computer.
so yeah, there you go.
It was hard but fun, of course the illustrations lack quality, but it was a tough deadline.
I really dig it man, sometimes illustrations that have a quirky quality look ten times better than something over rendered. I think what you did for this piece really works nice! Good job man, I always enjoy your work!
